Frances Hookstra, MA, MFTI (Marriage and Family Therapist Registered Intern #65228) was drawn to helping people at a young age. She was often the person those around her would come to when they were troubled or upset. As she grew older, she knew she should utilize this innate skill. After her first exposure to the field of psychology, she knew she wanted to be a therapist. Frances attended California State University, Fullerton, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors in Psychology. She went on to attend Pepperdine University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude and earned her Masters in Clinical Psychology with an Emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. While Frances enjoys counseling adults, couples, and families, she has a passion for helping children, adolescents, and young adults. She has worked with this population throughout her life, both personally and professionally, and feels she has a special ability to connect with them. Frances has developed self-esteem groups for adolescents and has received tremendous feedback from both the adolescents and their parents. Frances is delighted to be working under Tracey Cleantis, LMFT, where she can continue to develop her skills as a therapist and assist others in finding their “next happy”.
